Seriously how? I think Gianna is either embarrassed or scared to NOT do it in her diaper. I've tried leaving her alone on the toilet when I think she's going to do it so she can have privacy, but nope. I would say she is almost completely potty trained.
She wears big girl undies all day at home & we've only had one pee accident in the last couple of weeks. I put a diaper/pull-up on her only when we leave the house or at night time.
Or when she has to poop. I know I'm a sucker. She literally asks for a diaper when she has to poop & I give in after trying for 15 minutes because I've cleaned up poopy underwear & it's not pretty. Any suggestions?
Anyway... here was our day yesterday:
We gave each other pedicures :) [I know I have terrible toes, but I had to share my daughter's lovely work]
We played with play-doh. Gianna asked me to make her a princess. I know, I know... I'm a play doh genius.
We had a play date with a fellow blogger & her son, Sam. Adorable???
And I just found this from a couple of months ago & realized I never put it up. I just can't resist her when she has curly cue piggy tails :)
P.S. Don't forget to check out my sponsor, Lovella Bowtique! They are always adding new, adorable things :)

My son potty-trained easily but it took 3 months more for my daughter to be completely potty training - she'd wee in the toilet, but would not poop in it. I googled it and found it's quite common especially with girls - this is the advice I found and used - and it worked!
ReplyDeleteEstablish the toilet as the pooping area...even if she wants to poop in her diaper - make her stand/sit in the bathroom and do her business there. When she is done, sit her on the potty to clean her. (My daughter would squat in a corner of the bathroom and go in her pull-up...she'd wear panties the rest of the time)
After this is established, put a diaper on her when she needs to poop, but make her sit on the potty as she does this. If she needs help, let her have a stool in front of her to rest her feet on to help her go. When she is done, clean her while she's sitting on the potty.
After this has been going on a few weeks - try it without the diaper on - so she'll just be sitting on the potty and will go.
For encouragement, I had a special doll in a box that I'd show my daughter - and told her that the day she did a poop in the toilet, she could have...she was so happy when she finally did a poop in the toilet and could play with the doll.
Hope this helps :-)
I'm having the exact same issue with my daughter. She's pretty much potty trained with the pee but not the poop. She also used to ask to put a diaper on to poop, but we stopped doing that. She is holding her poop now so sometimes she isn't going for a week! So I also need some tips!
ReplyDeleteJanine
My daughter was terrified of pooping in the toilet. I think it was weird for her 'cause she had no issues doing it when she was wearing a diaper or just going with her underwear on.
ReplyDeleteWhat did work was bribing her with M&M's. I know that's bad but I had to do it 'cause washing dirty undies is not fun.
She needs some sort of distraction while making her poop. I found that my daughter loved it when I sang, I'm no singer but she didn't care. I sang everything from twinkle twinkle little star to Bruno Mars' Just the way you are!! She loved it, then she would sing, laugh and poop! :-)
ReplyDeleteWith my son I would place him on his little potty (we have one downstairs and one in his bedroom for easy access) and I would sit there with him haha and kind of coach him through it...I think he was just scared and it hurts sometimes ya know and he would grunt (TMI) but I would just keep telling him that it was okay and then when he would poop a massive cheering party would break out! HAHA
ReplyDeleteHe will NOT poop in the big potty at all...it scares him so much, I have a whole post coming about what we had to do while traveling to get him to poop since we had left his little potty at home...desperate times call for desperate measures haha! But that was our key to success for pooping was just coaching him...
The potty in the bedroom is a lifesaver also....he pees and doesn't have to leave his room or wake anyone up at 2am...
Good Luck she will get it!!! PS that pedicure rocks...sign me up for an appt! TOO CUTE...AND her curly piggies are to die for! love it@
Poop Chocolate! He would get a piece of chocolate when he pooped- and the kid loves chocolate so potty training him was super easy and only took 3 days from start to finish- but we skipped pull ups and went straight to underwear, the kid is vein and refused to pee/poop in his 'wonderwears' as he called him. After a few weeks he forgot to ask for 'poop chocolate' when he was done.
ReplyDeleteDont laugh .......but my 2nd toe is longer than my big toe too and my uncle used to always joke about my toes and my brothers too ,.....LOL!
ReplyDeleteBut as far as potty training ....im no expert but pooping in the potty for us has been a struggle mainly because my daughter has some tummy problems and she will hold it till the bitter end. The only thing i found that help is when i know she has to go but shes holding it to put her in the tub .....the warm water makes her relaxed and when she can see the potty right there.....then she will get out of the tub to go.
P.S. The playdate pic is so cute!!!!!!!!!!! ahhh young love ...lol
I am struggling w/#2 troubles and my 2 year old son. Like your daughter, he asks for his diaper or he'll wait until I put one on him at bedtime and then go. :( My plan was to do what the first comment said - and work in baby steps!
ReplyDeleteno tips for potty training sorry but she is adorable! i love the picture of the two kids but i think the background of Victoria's secret is hilarious :)
ReplyDeleteMy son is not quite at the potty training age but I have a friend whose son had the SAME problem. I used to keep him a lot when he was being trained and he would do the SAME thing, request his diaper when he was ready to go. My friend's doctor told her to just keep putting him in his diaper when he was requesting because you DO NOT want them to hold it!!! The doctor said he would just out grow it and start going on the potty and he did just that! It may seem weird that they are doing this but something in their little minds just hasn't quite grasped doing it on the potty. So no reason to stress or worry! Hope this helps!
ReplyDeleteum, yes. loving the VS in the background of that pic! as for potty training, my girl struggled with this, too. i eventually just did nothing about her pooing in the panties. i just let her wander around until she started complaining, at which point i'd help her clean them out. she hated touching poo and finally just started doing it in the potty. don't know if this would work for anyone else since every kid is different. i seriously hate potty training.
ReplyDeleteMy 2yo was scared to poop in the potty too. One day, I put the Elmo potty training video on, promised her an M&M afterwards, and she pooped in the potty and hasn't gone back (over 2 months). Now she refuses to poop in her pants... but we continue to give a M&M each time when at home, so that's prob why.
ReplyDeleteWe haven't started potty training yet, but a friend of mine who is a pediatric nurse once told me that kids need to have a stool under their feet (so their feet are flat) when going #2. Apparently, it helps the sphincter relax and makes it easier for them to poo. I guess it's worth a try!
ReplyDeletei had a friend whose daughter did the same thing. They then put the diaper under the toilet seat so she could still poop in her diaper but on the potty. Then after awhile put a paper towel there and then nothing. Worked for them, good luck!
ReplyDeleteNot sure if you've tried this, but what we actually did was we took Jaslyn shopping for big girl undies and she got to choose which ones she wanted. She chose Minnie Mouse, so every time we put them on I'd remind her not to go poo-poo on minnie mouse. That seemed to work right away. After a few days, she'd tell me "Mommy, no go poo-poo on minnie mouse?" So, I know she got the concept. At first she would tell me she had to go pee pee but in the end she'd go #2 as well. I think you just have to stick with it, so she understands it fully. Good Luck!
ReplyDeleteMy son had the same problem when he was first potty training. I don't know why they do but they do. What we would do when he pooped in his undies is he would have to get in the shower and we'd have to hose down his mess and he would hate that so eventually it worked.
ReplyDeleteAlso, another thing to try and warning it is a little gross but it worked. Is after she does go #2 in the potty make a big deal about saying goodbye to the poop as it flushes down.
ReplyDeleteHow adorable is she?! You are brave to let her paint your toes, if I let my daughter try I'm pretty sure we'd end up with nail polish covering half the house. We are potty training too, I still have no idea how I'm going to get my daughter to poop on the toilet!
ReplyDeleteShe is adorable!! My daughter potty trained very fast. I had no problems. BUT I did leave her on the toilet for a long time, until she went. Just be patient she will poop eventually.
ReplyDeleteLynn
That pic of them holding hands in front of the giant boobies is weird! I know you didn't plan it that way though. Her curly q piggies are adorable!
ReplyDeleteI have no potty trianing advice. I am still up to my elbows in poop here!
