Halloween time.

I know it's still over a month away, but brainstorming ideas can never start too early at the Foreste household :)

I had 3 ideas in my head & searched for some cute costumes all over the internet that fit the pictures in my head.  Here are the top 3:

1.  Oompa Loompa.  I know it's not cutesy & girly, but I thought she would look so cute with big green hair & Snooki style bronzing... not to mention the poofy pants.

2.  Minnie Mouse.  Because I can only imagine the cuteness of big ears, big polkadot dress & painted black nose.

3.  Futuristic girl from outerspace.  No idea what to call it because there is NO costume out there for what I'm looking for.

The winner (for now) is... girl from outerspace!  That's if I can make the costume in time.  I saw an idea in a Martha Stewart Halloween magazine & thought I MUST recreate this in a miniature size.  I found these silver leggings, which will go perfect.  Now I'm going to attempt to make a silver lame' leotard (with the help of my amazing mommy friend) with some sort of purple mylar material for a Jane Jetson style collar.  I'm going to use the same shiny mylar type fabric to make a short skirt that sticks straight out (hoop skirt style).

She is going to wear her little silver Toms & my inspiration for her hair came from Gwen Stefani... and I will spray it silver of course!

I decided I'm going to spice up her costume with a tiny bit of makeup.  Because when else can you go all out on a kid, but Halloween??  This is what we're going to aim for... pretty sequins around the eyes & some silvery/pinky lipstick.

I'm so excited & it's not even my costume :)  This is the winner as of now, but we'll see if we're able to pull it off with the sewing machine.  Now it's your turn because I'm always up for some more inspiration... what are your ideas for costumes this year?

  1. My Baby Girl is currently in love with Mickey Mouse. We picked up the cutest costume at the Disney Store. The spacegirl/futuristic idea sounds cool. Never seen it before, so I can't wait to see the end result :)

  9. P was Minnie Mouse last year because I lost to my mom and hubby with her being a gnome. I am a lover of gnomes and have my own gnome forest so days after Halloween last year I purchased the gnome costume. I am so excited, I won't be able to take her trick or treating with having an amnio that day and the baby the next day but at least I can pass out candy and see her dressed up! Love the space outfit, I can totally see G in it.

  14. Just a warning, my mom made a bodysuit onesie thing last year for Ryann with super shiny material, and she said it wasn't a whole lot of fun to work with. Maybe you'll have better luck! Or you could look in to buying a leotard, but I know some of them are pricey...

  20. The Oompa Loompa costume is my daughter Gavi. She was 2 years old when I had a friend sew the costume for me. She wasn't happy wearing all that makeup which is why she is pouting. She won several costume contest but oddly enough lost a few of them due to a girl who's mother made her a Southern Belle costume out of newspaper with a matching umbrella. lol Thanks for including her on your blog.
